The IISS “Foscolo” is a secondary school situated in  Canicattì, a town of about 35,000 inhabitants  in the province of Agrigento in the south of Sicily, an area known all over the world for its scenic and natural beauty and for its wealth of cultural and artistic treasures. 

The three branches of our Secondary School: Classical, Scientific and Linguistic, represent   an important point of reference for the community, as they educate and train a large part of the youth  population of our town and its neighbours. The total number of students is over 1200 with more than 100 teachers. The school  is equipped with computers and interactive whiteboards, computer and language labs and it is committed to constant upgrading and modernising.  Many extra -curricular projects widen and enrich the curriculum and the range of experiences students can make at school to develop strategies and skills as well as to strengthen  their motivation to learn. Preparatory courses to Examination Boards Certifications, cultural exchanges, study-stays abroad, Erasmus projects, national, regional and local projects are some of the activities included in our  P.T.O.F (Three-year Educational Plan). 

In the last three years since the “School-work experience” programme has been compulsory in Italy, our school has built an extensive network of collaborations with companies, organizations and associations all over the country to provide students with employability skills to perform well in  today’s labour market. 

Over  the past years, our  school participated in two Comenius projects, then  from 2014 to 2016 it took part in an Erasmus + KA2 project  “Publishing House of Arts” obtaining the eTwinning School Label and she   is currently participating to another one: “Mission H”  2018-2020.
